Monday: Weekly Homework Writing

For our Trimester 3 writing page students will practice their opinion writing skills by reviewing a book of their choice. The student will have to draw a picture of the book cover, write the author/illustrator, record the number of book pages, write why they liked the book, and rate the book. I will not be accepting Trimester 2 writing pages any longer.
Letter(s)/Sounds of the week: Long /i/ and short/i/ words, Digraph /sh/, /ch/, /th/ words (shop, thin, chick).
Tuesday: Kids A-Z.com (also referred to as Raz KIds)
Spend 10 minutes on the RazKids.com ( also known as KidsA-Z.com). Please follow directions on the back of
your child’s homework folder on how to log into the site.Kids A-Z will send me weekly reports on who logs in along with time spent and skills practiced during that week.

Wednesday: Math Homework Workbook Page or IXL.com
Your child can choose to complete ONE Math Workbook page (front and back) in the appropriate topic or spend 10-15 minutes practicing on IXL.com.
If you child chooses to work on ixl.com please have them select "Learning" tab at the top, next scroll to top and click on "Common Core", then select "Kindergarten" from list of grade tabs. Then have your child scroll down the list of standards and select standard that matches our Math learning Topic for the week:
For example : IXL Standard: K. Analyze, compare, create, and compose shapes.
- K.K.G.1 Describe objects in the environment using names of shapes, and describe the relative positions of these objects using terms such as above, below, beside, in front of, behind, and next to.
- K.K.G.2 Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size

Make flashcards (using plain copy paper and cutting it into word cards or index cards) for weekly sight words and practice, practice, practice. Please save and practice the sight words throughout the year.

Friday:Turn in Communication/Homework folder with writing paper and math worksheet (if completed instead of ixl.com site time)!
Please take the time to assure your child is learning the appropriate study habits. I receive weekly updates about the amount of time each individual student spends on Learning A-Z/Raz-Kids as well as IXL and I take the time to check in that portion of the homework on a checklist. Please know that you have the option to choose between IXL and a math worksheet from your child’s Pearson Envision workbook. You may receive a notice that your child’s homework was incomplete this week if the writing page, math page or ixl time is not logged.
